I’m thawed out and unpacked from a (mostly) great trip to Alaska to speak at the Alaska Library Association conference in Fairbanks and at Fireside Books in Palmer. The only not-so-great part of the trip was that I had planned to spend a week between events visiting my son’s family in Palmer, but they had the monster flu so I had to be satisfied by FaceTime sessions with them from my hotel room instead.
A highlight of the time in Palmer was a private tour of the Palmer Colony House Museum, which is housed in a real colony house from 1935. Here’s the kitchen, with trim finish and cupboards much like those in my own house.
